Music Concert: Lute

The Community Church of North Orange & Tully presents Seth Warner in an afternoon recital of Renaissance music for the lute and vihuela.

This concert will feature music from the entirety of the European continent as well as the British Isles features music from the entirety of the European continent as well as the British Isles featuring the composers John Dowland, Luys Milan, Francesco da Milano, Luys Narvaez, Anthony Holbourne and many more. Immediately following the concert the Church community will be hosting a welcoming reception with coffee and an assortment of homemade cookies and treats.

Tickets are $30 and available via Eventbrite with proceeds going to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in support of the very important work and support they continue to offer for those in need.

Seth Warner’s performances have been described as “ethereal” by the Portland Press Herald and he has appeared on stages as diverse as The Boston Early Music Festival, live on WGBH radio, a cruise on the Rhine river in Germany and several appearances at Joe’s Pub in New York City.

Other highlights from his two decade plus career include performances and collaboration with the Grammy award winning Parker String Quartet and tours with the extraordinary gospel and blues singer, Francine Reed, forming and touring with the early music quartet Music for a While and serving as Executive Producer for several internationally acclaimed classical recordings.

Seth studied the lute and vihuela with Olav-Chris Henriksen and Hopkinson Smith and also greatly benefited from the mentorship of mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Erskine Patches and pianist Frank Glazer.

Also enjoying a varied career in arts administration, Seth managed The Olin Arts Center at Bates College for ten years in which he curated several diverse and successful concert series being, named as an “Emerging Arts Leader” by the Association of Performing Arts Presenters in 2008. Alongside his performance schedule Seth now serves as the box office manager for the State Theatre and Thompson’s Point concert venues in Portland, Maine and teaches lute, guitar and ukulele at Bates and virtually with students all over the world.
