Sharing Local News…
This past weekend, amid clamoring over trees and wires and coping with power outages, we all worked together to help chainsaw people out, pick up food for one another, checked in on one another, and offered warmth, water, and showers to one another.
Sunday morning, we opened a chilly Church for a short service and brought in coffee and donuts for anyone who stopped in. It was a sweet check in for people who felt trapped and frustrated, for both church members and neighbors. We talked about the challenges of being up here in North Orange and Tully, as well as the blessings of being up here.
One of the main things that came up was the blessing of having the Church/Meetinghouse as community space. There was informal brainstorming about ways we could make an even better “gathering” space. A place to warm up and have hot coffee/tea, food, and games. How we could create a mini support location for area residents during storms/power outages or other events where gathering together would be supporting.
The Neighborhood Crime Watch also came up as something that felt like it supported this idea and some thoughts included recreating something like the Neighborhood Watch. A group to gather between crisis events to support the needs of our area and make plans to be supported and better prepared.
Please contact Charlotte with your input and thoughts and if you’d like to play a part in planning and building. We’re aware that life feels busy, even a small part to play is helpful.
Yes, yes…another Neighborhood Pot Luck is November 15th!!
As always, all are welcome.
